Smarter than smarter

Mobile technology is becoming increasingly important and landed in domains where we did not expect.

Even in an area where it was thought that the intelligence had reached its peak, we always find more innovation.
Even luxury brands are getting into and are trying to work with mobile applications to make life easier for their consumers.
For example: Jaguar, a luxurious car brand, will launch “The Jaguar F-PACE” – Jaguar’s first crossover – A car who gets clever with the latest wearable tech offering a new wristband with properly useful functionality connected with a Smartphone.

General Motors was the first automaker to bring the first connected car features to market with OnStar in 1996 in Cadillac DeVille, Seville and Eldorado. OnStar was created by GM working with Motorola Automotive (that was later bought by Continental). The primary purpose was safety and to get emergency help to a vehicle when there was an accident. The sooner medical helps arrives the more likely the drivers and passengers wahaould survive. A cellular telephone call would be routed to a call center where the agent sent help.

In the summer of 2014, Audi was the first automaker to offer 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspots access and the first mass deployment of 4G LTE was by General Motors.

JLR has used the new F-Pace to reveal its latest wearable technology at the Wearable Technology Show 2016, with the Android Wear watch App featuring some useful features like the ability to activate climate control, check fuel levels, monitor the car’s location and allow remote locking.

Jaguar is not the only brand to collaborate with digital innovations. Actually, most of the automobile brand use technologies on their new models as a connexion internet or wireless local area network.

The following trends are strengthening the shift towards a fully developed connected cars industry, changing the concept of what is understood as a car and what are its functions.

Technological innovation in the field of connectivity is accelerating. High-speed computers help make the car aware of its surroundings, which can transform manoeuvring a self-driving vehicle an increasing reality.
